What is Kindergarten Readiness?

Kindergarten is the foundation year for future classroom performance as kids progress from passive learning to actively applying and expanding their knowledge. For any child, it can be a rough transition time while moving between days spent playing at daycare and the structured requirements of elementary school.

Why is Kindergarten readiness important?

Basic Kindergarten knowledge quickly progresses to more advanced skills. If a child enters Kindergarten with a weak language base, they will struggle to catch up to their peers if they are not given extra support. Research shows the early intervention can provide lifelong benefits.

How does your program prepare my child for Kindergarten?

Each 2-hour session is comprised of 3 fun and interactive sections:

  • Vocabulary and Language
  • Story Concepts and Comprehension
  • Application through Arts & Crafts.

With lots of individual attention, our activities are designed specifically to target and support speech and language development, and early reading and writing skill awareness.

Who created the program, and who runs the Sunday group?

This program was designed by Jennifer Benedik (Speech-Language Pathologist) and Dr. Stella Benarroch (Psychologist).

The group will be run each week by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, with the aid of graduate students and student volunteers to give the best student-to-child ratio with lots of individual attention.

I have insurance, can I claim these services?

Yes. All of our services and activities are created by certified professionals (OOAQ certified Speech-Language Pathologist, OPQ certified Psychologists).

Some insurance policies have unique requirements or limitations. Please check with your provider to let us know if they have any specific guidelines or prerequisites. We can make multiple receipts or one, as you prefer.

Insurance receipts will be provided on the last day of the program.

I don't have insurance, can I claim these services?

Keep all of your receipts for services received. Talk to an advisor about submitting them for income tax deductions. Receipts will be provided on the last day of your child’s program.

What are your prices?

Prices vary depending on when you choose to register and send in your deposit to confirm your child’s attendance.

Please read our on-line registration details.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

We understand that emergencies happen, and will do our best to support you. Cancellations before the program begins may have an administration fee, and full details are available on our registration form.

If your child cannot make a session, all materials and home program work will be provided on the following week.

How do parents participate?

Parents are invited to drop off their children just before 9am and return to pick them up at 11am.
Options include staying in our waiting room, going downstairs to the coffee shop, or leave the complex and return for pick up. Parking validations will be provided at the end of the session.
Children will be given fun related activities to take home and work on with their families, thus reviewing the vocabulary and progressing with what they have learned.
We often provide light snacks (such as juice and crackers), but always confirm allergies before the session begins.

Where are services provided?

We are excited to announce our new permanent location at SouthWest One.

Located at 175 avenue Stillview, Office #230.
